#VMUGIT User Conference 2014 – An event done right

vmugit-uc14-300x136Yesterday I attended the second VMUGIT yearly User Conference in Milan, representing Veeam as a sponsor with several colleagues.

Although I’m based in Rome and we have a local team in Milan, I gladly volunteered to attend: these events are a great chance to meet both new and existing customers and partners, to do some “networking” with fellow IT pros and enthusiasts.

With just two editions, the User Conference has already become one of the “go-to” events for virtualization experts and all who are interested in sharing their experiences, learning the latest news and trends about VMware technologies. The event is all about the users really.

The guys of the VMUGIT board did a truly excellent job, as usual, organizing the event in every detail and ensuring the presence of well-known, international speakers. And it really paid off, as far as I could see: about 400 pre-registered people! I don’t know the actual number of attendees, but surely the quantity of people was quite impressive.

But in my opinion, the best part of this event were the attendees themselves.

I’ll be honest here: in some cases, events I regularly attend are full of people who aren’t particularly interested in the topics – they’re far more interested in free giveaways and buffet. This was clearly not the case with today’s conference! The attendees’ average level of interest (and skill) was very high.

I had several pleasant, technical discussions about technology, architecture, market and trends, best practices, common issues… That was totally refreshing.

Thanks VMUGIT !
